Life at Iden Manor
Life at Iden Manor
The drive to Iden Manor winds between tall trees before opening onto the Victorian mansion, its turrets and wide bay windows catching the light. It looks grand, but step inside and you’ll find warmth, familiarity, and the kind of welcome that quickly makes you feel at home.
The grounds are alive with quiet activity - birds on the lawns, squirrels darting between branches, even the occasional fox or badger at dusk. Benches tucked among the flowerbeds invite you to pause and breathe in the fresh air. And then there’s Ossie the dog, a regular visitor to the home, padding alongside visitors or snoozing in a sunny spot, part of daily life and loved by many.
Indoors, there’s a space for every mood. On colder days, the wood-panelled lounge draws people in with the crackle of its fire; in the bay-windowed room, sunlight spills across the carpet and frames the gardens beyond.
Facilities & Accommodation
Iden Manor has character in every corner. With 15 acres of peaceful grounds, quiet nooks, and spacious reception rooms, it offers both grandeur and comfort. Bedrooms are as individual as the people who live in them - some with en-suite bathrooms or wet rooms, most furnished with treasured pieces brought from home. Couples can share, and everyone is encouraged to make their room their own.
There’s also a hair salon, laundry, and full accessibility with lifts and easy stair access, so daily life is as smooth as possible.
Iden Manor has two distinct areas of care:
- The Iden Side – for those becoming a little frailer but still valuing independence.
- The Good Shepherd – for those becoming a little frailer but still valuing independence.

The Iden Side is set within the original heart of the mansion, a place for those who may be growing frailer but still wish to hold on to independence and live life their way. Here, residents have the reassurance of support close by, while enjoying the freedom to spend their days as they choose.
Bedrooms are spacious and personal, with room for treasured belongings that make each one feel like home. Beyond the privacy of their rooms, residents can choose from welcoming shared spaces - quiet corners for reading, cosy spots for conversation, or the little library to browse. The bright dining room looks out over the gardens, and the grounds themselves are always there to enjoy, whether for a stroll, fresh air, or simply a moment of calm.
The Good Shepherd is designed for those who need a higher level of daily support. Here, residents are cared for with dignity, patience, and compassion, surrounded by staff who take time to understand their individual needs.
Bedrooms are comfortable and homely, with space for personal touches. Shared lounges and dining areas provide a warm setting for companionship, while calm corners offer peace and quiet when it’s needed. With support always close at hand, residents and families can feel reassured that every detail of care is given with skill and kindness.
Life at Iden Manor is full of opportunities to connect, share, and enjoy. We know that social activity is key to wellbeing, so our Activities Team makes sure there’s always something meaningful to take part in - whether that’s gentle exercise, music, crafts, or simply laughter over a quiz.
Residents enjoy a mix of familiar favourites and new experiences: visiting performers, themed celebration days, craft sessions, and outings on our wheelchair-accessible minibus - with a trip to the seaside always high on the list.
One much-loved part of our programme is creating life history books. These are made together with our team, helping residents to reflect on treasured memories and giving families a keepsake to cherish.
And of course, choice matters. Whether someone wants to join in with group activities, enjoy a newspaper or TV in their room, or browse our small library, every day can be shaped to suit individual preferences.

Food is about so much more than nutrition - it’s about comfort, pleasure, and connection. At Iden Manor, mealtimes are a highlight of the day. Our chefs prepare home-cooked dishes using seasonal menus and locally sourced produce wherever possible, from our trusted butcher to nearby growers.
Every resident has their own preferences, and our care team works closely with the kitchen to ensure meals are both nourishing and personalised. Allergies and dietary needs are carefully managed, and residents are supported to enjoy food in a way that suits them best.
There’s always variety on the menu, with special themed days linked to our activities programme - and plenty of homemade cakes that visitors often can’t resist joining in for. With a 5* food hygiene rating and countless compliments from families, our reputation for good food is something we’re genuinely proud of.
“Mum has been in Iden Manor since July 2021. Her care throughout this time has been excellent. She waxes lyrical about how wonderful everyone is, how the food is superb (she’s gone up 3 dress sizes since moving in!) and how much she loves living there. There are very regular activities, including a lot of visiting entertainers. There really is something for everyone. The attention to detail is great, birthdays are always celebrated with cakes, banners etc. Mum's party for her 90th was wonderful”.

A Typical Day at Iden Manor
Life at Iden Manor has a gentle rhythm. There’s comfort in routine, but always the freedom for residents to shape the day their own way. Respect, privacy, and dignity are at the heart of everything, so each person feels cared for, included, and truly at home.
Morning
The day often begins with a cup of tea brought to the bedroom, followed by unhurried support with bathing, dressing, and getting ready. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the dining room or in the comfort of one’s own space - and when the windows are open, birdsong is often part of the wake-up call.
Midday
Late mornings might be spent reading, walking in the gardens, or joining friends for activities. At eleven, coffee and biscuits appear like clockwork. Lunch is homemade and hearty - a tempting starter, main, and dessert, enjoyed together in the bright dining room.
Afternoon
After lunch, some residents take a rest, others join in with gentle activities, crafts, or musical entertainment. By three o’clock, homemade cakes are served with tea - a daily highlight for many.
Evening
The evenings are calm and unhurried. A light supper is served, followed by drinks and quiet time to relax before bed.
At Iden Manor, no two days look exactly the same - but every day is shaped with care, comfort, and the small touches that make life feel good.
